Before you start

  • Every activity is unplugged or led by an adult. Learners do not use AI tools themselves.
  • Keep the tone light. The goal is checking, not fear of AI.
  • The self-driving car example is for grades 3-5. For younger groups, skip it.
  • “What ARK thinks” is an opinion. Say so out loud, and let kids disagree.

Discussion prompts

Use the two in Step 6.

Answer notes

Quick check: 1 B, 2 C, 3 A. Pre/post: 1 B, 2 B, 3 B. In Step 3, true: spiders and octopus. False: the sun (a star) and penguins (most live in the Southern Hemisphere). In the sort, accept any answer a learner can explain with “what happens if it’s wrong?”

Words to know

mistake
When an AI makes a wrong guess.
double-check
To look again, or ask someone, to be sure.
trust
Believing that something is right.
fair
Giving everyone a good chance, and leaving nobody out.

Workshop quick checks

Learners can answer these on their own phones with no account. Answers count toward ARK's anonymous totals.
