Terms of use

ARK is free to use. These terms explain what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you.

This is a plain-language draft written by the ARK team for review by a lawyer. It is not final, and it is not legal advice. Notes in highlighted brackets are questions for that review.

About these terms

These terms cover the website at aireadiness4kids.org and everything on it: the courses, lessons, workshop checks, accounts, and certificates. ARK (AI Readiness for Kids) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and “we” means ARK. By using the site you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. ARK is free

Every course is free, and it will stay free. You can browse the courses and try the first step of every module without an account. A free account lets you keep going, save your progress, and earn certificates.

Accounts

  • 13 and older: you can create your own account with an email address or a Google account.
  • Under 13: a parent or legal guardian creates the account and adds the child as a profile with a nickname and grade band.
  • Tell us the truth about your age. The sign-up path depends on it.
  • Keep your password private, and sign out on shared computers. You are responsible for what happens in your account. Parents and guardians are responsible for their children’s profiles.
  • You can delete your account at any time from your account page.

Using ARK kindly and safely

Please don’t:

  • try to get into someone else’s account, or into parts of the site you aren’t meant to reach;
  • try to break, overload, or get around the site’s security, including sign-in and the free-preview limit;
  • use bots or scripts to copy the site or submit answers;
  • pretend to be someone else, or put anything hurtful, private, or inappropriate in a display name or nickname;
  • use ARK to break the law.

We may suspend or close an account that does these things. If that happens and you think we got it wrong, email us.

Our lessons and materials

ARK’s lessons, activities, guides, and slide decks are made by the ARK team and volunteers. You are welcome to use them for your own learning, and to teach them in classrooms, clubs, libraries, and at home, for free.

[For review: the team needs to choose a license for reuse (for example a Creative Commons license such as CC BY-NC-SA 4.0), including whether others may adapt or share the materials, and how they should credit ARK. Until then, please ask us before republishing ARK materials elsewhere.]

Some lessons link to or quote outside sources. Those belong to their owners.

Lessons are for learning

  • ARK teaches about artificial intelligence. It is general education, not professional, legal, medical, or financial advice.
  • AI changes quickly. We work hard to keep lessons accurate, and each module shows whether it is a draft, in review, or reviewed by an outside expert. If you spot a mistake, please tell us.

Workshop checks

The short quizzes at ARK workshops are open to everyone, with no account needed. Please answer honestly and only once; the answers help us see whether our workshops work.

Certificates

A certificate shows that a learner completed an ARK module. It is not a grade, a diploma, a professional license, or an accredited credential. For learners 13 and older, anyone with the certificate’s link can check it at aireadiness4kids.org/verify/…. Certificates for children under 13 are private.

Some pages link to other websites, such as slide decks on Google Drive. We don’t control those sites, and their own terms and privacy policies apply.

Changes to ARK and to these terms

We may change, add, or remove lessons and features, and we may change these terms. When we do, we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell account holders by email before it takes effect.

We provide ARK as it is, and we can’t promise it will always be available or free of mistakes. [For review: a lawyer should write the disclaimer, the limit of liability, and which state’s law applies (and where disputes are handled), in language that works for families and minors.]
